April Maloney has spent nearly two decades helping children thrive. She started her healthcare journey in the emergency room while still in nursing school, then continued into pediatric trauma care at Children’s National Medical Center. Over time, her passion shifted toward prevention—identifying risks early and guiding families toward healthier futures.

After earning her Master’s in Nursing from The Catholic University of America, April continued caring for children and families, eventually specializing in pediatric obesity medicine through her work in the IDEAL clinic at Children’s National.

It was there she discovered just how powerful personalized, long-term support could be. Unfortunately, throughout her career, she saw the limits of traditional care. Short appointments. Overwhelmed providers. Families left without the tools or time needed to make meaningful change. That’s why April started RISE Pediatrics—to provide the kind of care she believes every family deserves: proactive, compassionate, and built around the whole child.

She chooses not to work with insurance companies because she values the flexibility to spend more time with each family and focus on what really matters. April works directly with patients and families, using evidence-based care, motivational interviewing, and real conversation to help children move toward healthier, more confident lives.
